Dragana has been painting in oils and acrylics since childhood. Her interest in the arts has taken her to studying classical philosophy and a degree in classical music – opera and concert singing.

The call of the visual arts has increased over the years, resulting in a world-renowned ceramics studio and a select body of painted work hanging in Europe, the USA and Africa. The collection chosen for this exhibition is called “from Ana’s Window”.

The window is in Belgrade, Serbia, overlooking the vast and ever-changing river Danube that carries the tradition, history and detritus of Western Europe in its waters, en-route to the Black Sea. Through the window frame the changing times of the day and year reflect an emotional involvement with the wellbeing of the person at the window, forced to tackle the difficulties of a struggle for life against an imminent, untimely death.

While human life ebbs on one side of the window, the Danube itself portrays thoughts of life and death. Touched by the increasingly present ecological struggles of the globe, it is in imminent danger of drastic diminishment through the construction of a massive, industrial harbour within the area framed by the window.

The juxtaposition of two simple plains of colour, and the impact of the pigment itself, superimposed on a reduced landscape, link the personal and global struggles between approaching death and dissolution, and the power of nature, purity, life and beauty.
